FAQ

How do you determine the size of a steel round bar?

Round bar is measured in diameter and length.

How do you calculate steel bar weight?

Steel bar weight is calculated by multiplying the diameter times the diameter by 2.67 and that gives the per foot weight for smooth turned weight.

Example:   2 x 2 x 2.67 =10.68 lbs. per foot. For a smooth turned 2” diameter round bar.
Example:   6 x 6 x 2.76 = 99.36 lbs. per foot. For a rough turned 6” diameter round bar.

Note: smooth turned and rough turned have slightly different factors.
